LPC-1X FIT Board
A practical, reconfigurable base board designed for fault injection testing. The LPC-1X exposes common interfaces and power monitoring points for NXP LPC1300, LPC1500 and LPC1700 family microcontrollers and is built specifically for fault injection testing so you can easily and quickly reconfigure your test setup. It uses a standard DIP48 female header with the LPC1343 QFP48 pinout and is intended to make connecting, measuring, and reconfiguring your setup straightforward without permanent changes to the target board.
Provides:
-
DIP48 standard female header (LPC1343 QFP48 pinout) for socketed targets
-
Multiple exposed peripheral headers and connectors for fault injection, measurement and control
Key Features:
-
UART connector: Two 2.54mm rows each exposing GND, TX, RX and VREF, so you can attach a serial interface and simultaneously connect a logic analyzer or any other tools such as a trigger generator. Use VREF to provide a reference voltage to your UART isolation circuit.
-
Trigger out: SMA connector plus a pin header; connected to pin 10 on the DIP48 header for easy access during characterization.
-
ISP configuration header: Set the ISP pin low or high via a simple jumper for boot mode control.
-
Reset header: Four connections to the reset pin plus GND and VCC pins to attach pullup/pulldown resistors.
-
Two power-sense headers: One on the high side (MCU power rail) and one on the low side (ground) to attach shunt resistors, differential probes, or current-measurement modules.
-
JTAG reset jumper: Optionally tie JTAG reset to the MCU reset line or leave it isolated to avoid automatic resets when using a debugger.
-
Filter headers: Dedicated MCU VCC filter header and an LC filter header (for pull-up domains and other power domains). Plug in filter modules to condition rails or bypass with jumpers.
-
Crowbar connector: SMA and 2.54 mm 2-pin header next to the target power pins for crowbar-style protection or stimulus.
-
VDD capacitor header: Add capacitance to the CPU rail to stabilize the target during injections.
-
SWD/JTAG configuration header: Configure the JTAG pin7 mapping for targets with different connector pinouts.
-
JTAG pullups header: Option to add the JTAG bias board for pullups if your debugger does not provide them.
-
Sensor supply: Separate supply rail for active measurement components (amplifiers, sensors). Placed behind the LC filter.
-
20-pin JTAG connector: Standard connector also usable for SWD.
-
Power input: SMA connector or 2.54 mm 2-pin header for flexibility in bench setups.
-
On-board hints: Useful configuration notes printed on the board back for quick reference.
Why You Need It:
The LPC-1X is a configurable base board that groups the usual measurement and control points you need during fault injection work. Rather than modifying the target PCB or dealing with a wiring mess, you get a single platform that exposes UART, reset, ISP, JTAG/SWD, power sensing, and filter points in an organized layout. Because modules and jumpers are used to change behavior, reconfiguring for different experiments or for different members of the LPC families is fast and simple. And thanks to the parts and materials used, this flexibility does not come with a compromise in repeatability.
Typical Uses:
-
Fault injection campaigns where frequent reconfiguration is required.
-
Power analysis using shunts or probes on the provided high- and low-side sense headers.
-
Debugging and ISP programming with clear access to reset and ISP control.
-
Testing multiple LPC family devices using inexpensive adapters and the DIP48 socket.
Simple to Use:
-
Place your target in a socket and connect it to the LPC-1X board.
-
Configure your base board with pull resistors, filter modules, or jumpers as needed to the headers.
-
Use the UART rows to connect to the ISP interface and for monitoring results and behavior; use Trigger out (PA0_2) for external synchronization with the fault injection equipment during characterization phase.
-
Reconfigure jumpers or reconfigure small modules between runs to change power filtering, capacitance, and sensing points.
Compatibility and Notes:
-
Designed for LPC1300, LPC1500 and LPC1700 families.
-
Target socket pinout corresponds to LPC1343 QFP48.
-
Trigger out is connected to PA0_2 (pin 10 of the DIP48 header).
-
